First Time Voting
As everyone may know you have the right to vote once you turn 18. I was not registered to vote until I was a senior in college. Before coronavirus appeared, I was in science class and we had a guest speaker that came in to help us register. I am glad she came because I had no idea how or where to get registered.
Fast forward to November 3, 2020 is when I voted for the first time. I was extremely excited to vote because I started to pay attention to who was running and what they believed in.
I was not aware that voters had a certain poll station in which they were assigned to. I went to the wrong place and it was kind of embarrassing. The people there said I was not registered after calling the courthouse because they did not see my name. They said, “sorry” and gave me a form to fill out for the next election. I left disappointed because I felt like I should have never tried in the first place.
As I was driving home, I pulled into another place that I knew you could cast your vote and surprisingly it was the correct one. I was excited and glad I did not quit. Voting for the first time was humorous because I did not realize how fast and straight forward it was. I was expecting a high five or something after I voted. Overall, I’m glad I got out and used my voice.
