Benefits Of Time Management

I never new how important time management was until I came to Penn State Beaver. Everything has structure when it comes to school. I realized I needed a plan to get my homework done for the week or even for the day. I remember when I first started school and I was listening to the upper class-men telling me how crucial it is to plan ahead. They said school work can get over whelming and make you want to throw it all away. Projects, quizzes, and homework can stress you out if you don’t put time into your work.

If you want to manage your time well then you should do work any chance you get. For example, if you get an assignment that will only take 20 minutes then you should get that out the way. I found myself pushing everything to the side until the last minute which caused me to over whelm myself with assignments. I could have taken care of the little assignments one day and worry about the more in-depth assignments another day.

Another thing to pay attention to it doing one thing at a time. Do not try to do several things at once because it can distract you on the main objective you had planned. Getting sleep is very important too because you will be less agitated when it comes time to getting your work done.

According to a study at Purdue University, “Those who multitask see a drop in their IQ similar to someone who didn’t sleep the night before. If you’re trying to juggle multiple assignments and tasks, you’ll likely end up being less productive.”

It took me my senior year to realize getting sleep and managing my time is the key to good grades and being productive. Better late than never right. I’m still learning how to say no to going out and understanding what I need to prioritize. When I realized what I need to put my energy into, it made me feel better about myself. I was a student athlete balancing relationships, school, and work. This wore me down a lot and I wanted to give up so many times. I’m glad that I finally realized how important to have structure with your life. I figured out how to respond to whats important and what isn’t.
